Today’s IPL Match MI vs LSG: Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants play against each other at Wankhede Stadium on Friday evening in what will be the final IPL 2024 match for both teams. MI are out of playoff contention as they sit six points behind the top-four, but LSG can still make it into the top-four but that depends not only their win over MI in this fixture but also on the results in other matches.
LSG’s current unfavorable position on the table is down to their most recent form as they lost four times in the last five matches, including defeats in the last three matches. As mentioned, MI are placed last in IPL after winning only four times in 13 league matches.

Batters:
Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma and Rohit Sharma for Mumbai Indians
Tilak Varma is leading the run charts for Mumbai Indians this season. The 21-year-old is definitely the only positive for MI this season. The young Indian batter has racked up 416 runs in 13 innings this season.
Suryakumar Yadav has scored three half-centuries and one century in 10 innings this season. That’s a solid return for any batter. The 33-year-old is on 345 runs for the season, behind only Tilak Varma and Rohit Sharma, who has scored 349 runs for the five-time IPL champions this season.

KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran for Lucknow Super Giants
KL Rahul has had a decent IPL 2024 season. His tally of 465 runs, the most for LSG this season, is decent enough for many batters in the world. But when you are KL Rahul, ‘enough’ is never sufficient. He has been at the receiving end of some unjust flak from both fans and pundits. The former Punjab Kings captain is more than capable of outscoring his teammates in any game.
Nicholas Pooran and Marcus Stoinis are two of the most dangerous batters in the world. The duo is 2nd and 3rd on LSG’s run-scoring charts as well, with Pooran on 424 runs in 13 innings while Stoinis has made 360 runs in 13 innings.
Pooran scored a brilliant 61 runs off just 27 deliveries in his last outing against Delhi Capitals. That was truly a breathtaking display of high-quality hitting.
Bowlers:
Jasprit Bumrah and Piyush Chawla and Hardik Pandya for Mumbai Indians
The best white-ball bowler in the world, Jasprit Bumrah has been playing at his usual high level. The 30-year-old has taken 20 wickets this season, and is 2nd on the Purple Cap list, behind PBKS‘ Harshal Patel. He is definitely the bowler who should be in your Fantasy Cricket teams.
Piyush Chawla and Hardik Pandya are certainly bowling batter since the last few games. The former picked up two wickets in the last match against KKR, and took his season tally to 10 wickets in 10 matches. Pandya, on the other hand, is on 11 wickets in 11 innings.
Naveen-ul-Haq and Ravi Bishnoi for Luckow Super Giants
LSG’s Achilles heel is their bowling. Their best bowler is Naveen-ul-Haq who is at 24 on Purple Cap list. That’s not good enough for any team aiming to win the title. But Naveen has been good in the last few games. Even in the last match he took two wickets against DC.
Ravi Bishnoi has picked up only 8 wickets in IPL 2024. That’s really a disappointing return for Bishnoi who is considered as sold white-ball bowler. But he bowled better against DC in the match when other LSG were being taken for cleaners.
MI vs LSG Head To Head Record
This will be the 6th overall meeting between Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League. It’s LSG who have ruled over MI in this fixture, winning four out of five head-to-head encounters against the five-time IPL winners, who won just once against KL Rahul’s outfit. LSG also won the reverse fixture at Ekana Sports City in Lucknow earlier in the season. MI posted 144/7 while batting first, and LSG chased the target down in 19.2 overs at the loss of six wickets.
MI vs LSG Pitch Report
Wankhede Stadium pitch is renowned for its batting-friendly nature. In one game, MI posted 234/5 against Delhi Capitals, who also came within a whisker of chasing that target after making 205/8 in the 2nd innings. MI also chased down RCB’s 196/8 in 15.3 overs. That was one of the most ruthless chases in IPL history. In the following game, CSK scored 206/4, while MI made 186/6 courtesy of Rohit Sharma’s brilliant century.
