IPL 2024: Mumbai Indians are entertaining Rajasthan Royals at Wankhede Stadium on Monday, April 01, 2024. This is MI’s first home game and Hardik Pandya will hope that in front of home support and on familiar conditions, his team can finally end the losing run and kick start their IPL 2024 campaign. But it’s easier said than done as the opponents are in terrific form and come into this game on the back of two consecutive wins.
IPL 2024: MI vs RR Toss Update
Rajasthan Royals won the first battle as captain Sanju Samson won the toss and had the luxury of calling the shots. He decided to bowl first on the flat pitch. That decision might prove crucial as dew might play a part in the 2nd innings.
The Royals have named the same lineup that featured in the 12-run win over Delhi Capitals. That means, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler will open the innings for the away team, while Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag will bat at no-3 and no-4 respectively followed by Dhruv Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer. Trent Boult and Nandre Burger are the other two overseas players for the Royals.
As far as Mumbai Indians are concerned, there’s only one change in the MI Playing XI, as Shams Mulani, who gave away 33 runs in 2 overs, is replaced by Akash Madhwal. The rest of the playing 11 is same as the last match.
IPL 2024: Why Suryakumar Yadav Is Not Playing Today IPL Match MI vs RR?
As for Suryakumar Yadav, the injury has forced the star batsman to miss this clash against the Royals. He has been nursing an ankle injury he sustained in the 3rd T20I match against South Africa on December 14, 2023. The 33-year-old has been rehabilitating at NCA since then. He also went through some fitness test, which he failed eventually.
During an interview, Piyush Chawla was asked about SKY’s availabilty.
NCA still has to look after that, and coaches know more about it than us players, Chawla said.
