LSG vs MI IPL 2024: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are scheduled to face Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Ekana Sports City Stadium in Lucknow on Tuesday evening. Both teams are in dire need of a win following recent results. LSG has lost three times in five games, while MI has lost three times in four games, including two consecutive losses. However, LSG’s chances of winning this game have received a significant boost with a major update on Mayank Yadav‘s fitness.
Mayank Yadav Fit To Play LSG vs MI IPL 2024 Match
Lucknow Super Giants bowling coach Morne Morkel has provided a big update on the fitness of fast bowler Mayank Yadav. The former South African cricketer confirmed that Yadav has passed all the fitness test ahead of of LSG‘s home match against Mumbai Indians.
“Mayank is fit. He has passed all his fitness tests. We’re excited to have him back in the squad and the potential 12 for tomorrow,” Morke told reporters.
This is a massive boost for LSG as their bowling has been wayward in recent games. They lost the last game against Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets despite posting a huge total of 196/5 in 20 overs.
Morkel also highlighted why Ravi Bishnoi bowled only one over in the match against Rajasthan Royals. For the uninitiated, LSG needed wickets and despite that, Bishnoi, being the main spinner in the team, bowled only one over.
“Tactically, our decision-making at times let us down. We took the learnings from that. There was a certain game plan for Bishnoi against certain batters and unfortunately, those guys did not get the opportunity to bat. From a captaincy point of view, we were holding him back. We need to take that on the chin. We got that wrong,” Morkel was quoted as saying.

Mumbai Indians are 2nd from bottom on IPL 2024 points table and need to win almost all their games in order to remain in contention to qualify for the playoffs. With so much pressure riding, MI players need to rise up to the challenge in the remaining games.
MI’s off spinner Kumar Kartikeya was of the same opinion and backed his teammates to make it into the top four.
“We do not have pressure. We have been in similar situations before. Last year, we had to win many games in the end to qualify and we did it. So, we’re pretty positive that we can still make it. The ups and downs are a part of cricket. We are focused on how we can improve,” said Kartikeya.
