Sunrisers Hyderabad’s young superstar Nitish Kumar Reddy was deservedly awarded with the IPL 2024 Emerging Player Of The Year award after some outstanding performances during the course of the season.
The 21-year-old racked up 303 runs in 11 innings and hit 15 fours and 21 sixes along the way. He also picked up three wickets to cap off an unbelievable debut IPL season.
Nitish’s best outing with the bat came against Rajasthan Royals when he hit 76 runs off 42 balls, featuring 8 sixes.
KKR wins the 3rd IPL title
KKR’s long wait of winning the IPL trophy ended with an 8-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday. This is their third overall IPL title and first since 2014 when they beat Punjab Kings by three wickets in IPL 2014 final.
How the mega event unfolded?
Pat Cummins won the all-important toss and decided to bat first. It was the only positive for SRH on a day that ended in defeat. Mitchell Starc wreaked havoc with his fiery first spell, sending the dangerous Abhishek Sharma back to the pavilion in the first over. Travis Head‘s treacherous run with the bat continued as the Australian was out for a golden duck.
SRH could never recover as wickets kept tumbling. Aiden Markram showed signs of resistance, but the South African buckled under pressure and could manage only 20 runs off 23 balls. Any hope of a fightback soon ended when Harshit Rana clean bowled Heinrich Klaasen with the score at 90/8 in 14.1 overs. It was only Pat Cummins‘ late burst of 24 runs off 19 balls that took SRH’s total to 113 runs.
Needing only 114 runs to win the coveted trophy, KKR were never going to throw this match away. Sunil Narine departed early, scoring only 6 runs off 2 balls, but Rahmanullah Gurbaz (39 off 32) and Venkatesh Iyer (52 off 26) nipped SRH’s slim hopes in the bud. KKR eventually chased down the target in 10.3 overs, winning the IPL 2024 by 8 wickets.
