IND vs BAN 2nd Test: Rohit Sharma is a man of many facets and full of passion. He gives his all in the game of cricket, and at times, emotions get the better of him. The 2024 T20I World Cup was full of such moments, especially the final, where Rohit was seen in tears. During the first session of Day 1 of the IND vs BAN 2nd Test, the Indian captain produced yet another moment that quickly went viral across social media platforms.
Rohit Sharma’s animated reaction in IND vs BAN 2nd Test
It was the 13th over of the second Test match between India and Bangladesh when Akash Deep struck Shadman Islam on the pads. Naturally, all the Indian players appealed, but the umpire rejected it instantly. During the discussion about whether to take the DRS or not, Rohit Sharma didn’t seem confident about the appeal. However, after consulting with his teammates, he reluctantly opted for the review.
When the inspection was done, the ball-tracking technology confirmed that the ball had indeed hit Shadman below the knee roll and would have gone on to hit the stumps. Once the decision was confirmed on the big screen, Rohit’s animated reaction—displaying disbelief—quickly went viral on the internet. Here’s the video, courtesy of BCCI.

Bangladesh recover from early setback
The start of the second Test match was delayed by an hour due to overnight rain and a wet outfield at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. This was the reason Rohit Sharma decided to bowl first after winning the toss. However, the visitors made a cautious and watchful start, successfully negotiating Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj‘s opening spells.
Akash Deep once again justified his selection in India’s playing XI. The 27-year-old struck twice in three overs, removing both of Bangladesh’s openers. The visitors were reeling at 29/2 when captain Najmul Hossain Shanto arrived at the crease. But he, together with his partner Mominul Haque, took the fight back to the hosts. The duo added 45 for the 3rd wicket before rain stopped the play and forced an early lunch. At the time of writing this piece, Bangladesh were 74/2 in 26 overs, with Mominul batting at 17 runs and Najmuk batting at 28.
