Imagining Mumbai Indians under a different captain this IPL 2024 season is hard. It’s no exaggeration to say that imagining CSK without their talisman captain MS Dhoni is the same as seeing the Mumbai outfit being led by someone else, other than Rohit Sharma. But it’s true. Something drastic happened in the middle of December in 2023.
One of the richest franchises in the world, Mumbai Indians, replaced their 5-time winning captain Rohit Sharma with Hardik Pandya. The higher and seemingly dystopian hierarchy at MI caught everyone by surprise. This was not in the script of most Mumbai Indians fans before the start of IPL 2024. But it happened and is now carved in the history of MI and IPL.
Hitman Is In Good Form Before IPL 2024
But Rohit Sharma is far from finished. The Hitman is fresh and full of confidence heading into IPL 2024, after winning the 5-test match series 4-1 at home against England.
Many former cricketers voiced their opinions on how Mumbai Indians might have made a blunder in replacing Rohit with Hardik because everyone at MI discusses the big culture and team spirit they have created at this franchise, and this decision definitely goes in the opposite direction.

The latest cricketer to sound off on Mumbai Indians’ captaincy decision is Praveen Kumar.
“Yes, Rohit can do it. Not only for one year, but he can do it for two years, or three years. But eventually, the decision lies in the hands of the management,” the 37-year-old Praveen Kumar said.
